Fireworks Abound in Week 1

The first weekend of OT Select is in the books and it was one for the history books as both the Cold Hearts and Royal Reign advanced to Championship weekend 🎆

Saturday Night:

📍 YGE 79, Royal Reign 76 (OT)

📍 Cold Hearts 83, RWE 71

Sunday Afternoon:

📍 Cold Hearts 80, YGE 67

📍 Royal Reign 84, RWE 70

📍 Royal Reign 15, YGE 14 (Bubble Breaker)

On Saturday night, YGE took down Royal Reign in a barn burner that went to overtime which was the perfect way to kick off season two of OT Select. Captain GG Banks was absolutely lights out for YGE, posting a stat line of 28 points, ten boards and five assists including the game-winner in OT, a pull-up beauty from deep 🔥

The second game of the evening was a dominant showing from the Cold Hearts, as reigning MVP Kate Harpring went into takeover mode. Harpring scored 29 points, the fourth most in a game in Overtime Select history, on an absurd 63% shooting from the field 🎯

Sunday brought its fair share of excitement as well as the Cold Hearts opened up the day coming back from a near 20 point deficit against YGE to advance to the semi-finals. Addison Bjorn left her mark all over the game, generating efficient look after efficient look to score a game-high 26 points 💪

Royal Reign pulled the upset over RWE in the second game on Sunday with an 84-70 win, ending RWE’s season prematurely. Aaliah Spaight was undoubtedly the breakout star of the weekend, averaging 19.0 points over her two full games, in which she showed off her shiftiness and touch in the paint to generate clutch bucket after clutch bucket 🎨

In the bubble-breaker to determine the second team from the weekend to advance to the semi-finals, Royal Reign got their revenge on YGE, downing them 15-14. In the game to 15, Spaight yet again put the team on her back, scoring 12 of the team’s 15 points including the three-point game-winner 🤯
